A member of the Buffalo Medical Group, PC, since
1994, Dr. David R. Dougherty is board certified by the American
Board of Osteopathic Medicine in Internal Medicine and Medical
Oncology.
He earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree at the New York
College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he has been an associate
professor of medicine since 1997. Dr. Dougherty completed general
surgery specialty training at Botsford General Hospital, which is a
division of Michigan State University. He also completed a residency
in general internal medicine at Botsford General, where he served as
Chief Resident during his last two years. Following his residencies,
he was awarded a medical oncology fellowship and trained at Roswell
Park Cancer Institute.
In addition to his practice at the Buffalo Medical Group, Dr.
Dougherty is program director and chief of the Osteopathic Medicine
Residency Program for the Catholic Health System, and is an
assistant professor of medicine at the University at Buffalo (UB)
School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He also is a Roswell
Park Community Cancer Network Board member, and a member of the
Buffalo Medical Group, PC, Board of Directors.
Dr. Dougherty is a fellow in the American Osteopathic Internist
Society, and is a member of the American Medical Association,
American Osteopathic Association, the American Society of Oncology,
and the Western New York Osteopathic Society. In 2000, he was
inducted into Strathmore’s WHO’s WHO In Medicine for a lifetime
achievement to the pursuit of Medical Oncology.
Currently, Dr. Dougherty is affiliated with numerous hospitals in
Western New York including Buffalo General, Millard Fillmore Gates
Circle and Suburban, Mercy, Kenmore Mercy, Lockport Memorial, St.
Joseph’s, Sisters of Charity, and DeGraff Memorial.
