Dr. Sandra A. Block, a Board Certified neurologist and sleep
medicine specialist joined Buffalo Medical Group, PC, on November
15. In addition to becoming BMG's third neurologist, Dr. Block will
serve as medical director of the new Buffalo Medical Group Adult &
Pediatric Sleep Center at 325 Essjay Road in Williamsville,
scheduled to open in December.
Since 2005, she has been medical director of the Pediatric Sleep
Disorder Center of Western New York, a component of the Sleep
Medicine Centers of Western New York in West Seneca. She also has
served as director of Adult and Pediatric Sleep Medicine in the
Kaleida Health Department of Neurology. In addition, Dr. Block has
been an assistant professor of neurology at the University at
Buffalo (UB) School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences since 2002.
Her areas of particular interest and expertise include adult
neurological disorders and conditions; adult and pediatric
obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, restless leg syndrome and
narcolepsy.
Dr. Block earned her medical degree at UB and then completed
resident training in Internal Medicine and Neurology there, serving
as chief resident in the final year of her neurology residency. She
also completed fellowship training at UB in clinical neurophysiology
and sleep medicine.
From 2003-05, Dr. Block served as clinical director of the Kaleida
Health
Electroencephalography (EEG) Laboratory, and also was program
director in the UB Department of Neurology.
In addition to neurology and sleep medicine, she also is board
certified in clinical neurophysiology and psychiatry.
Dr. Block is a diplomate with the American Board of Sleep Medicine,
as well as a member of the American Academy of Neurology and
American Professional Sleep Society.
She has authored or co-authored numerous research and clinical
articles and abstracts for many medical journals and publications.
Dr. Block is affiliated with Kaleida Health Hospitals and Erie
County Medical Center.
