Dr. Thomas
Helm is a cum laude graduate of the Nichols School of Buffalo. He
graduated magna cum laude from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and
was an Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society member at Albany
Medical College, where he earned his medical degree.
Dr. Helm
completed his Dermatology training at the Cleveland Clinic
Foundation where he was elected Chief Resident in 1990. He joined
the professional staff of the Cleveland Clinic after graduating, and
later completed a special fellowship in dermatopathology under the
direction of Wilma F. Bergfeld, MD, past president of the American
Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Helm is
board certified in dermatology and dermatopathology. He is a fellow
of the American Society of Dermatopathology, American Society of
Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Academy of Dermatology.
He has
served as director of Buffalo Medical Group Dermatopathology
Laboratory since 1994.
Dr. Helm is
the author of more than 20 textbook chapters and 70 scientific
publications. He is a Clinical Associate Professor of Dermatology
and Pathology at the University at Buffalo.
