Dr. Akram S. Talhouk joined the Buffalo Medical Group, PC, in 2003, and is board certified in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care by the American Board of Surgery.
He earned his medical degree at American University of Beirut, Lebanon. Dr. Talhouk completed his General Surgery specialty training at the University of Miami/ Jackson Memorial Hospital in Florida where he also received further training in Surgical Critical Care. In addition, Dr. Talhouk was awarded a two-year National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded Trauma Research Fellowship at the University of California/San Francisco.
He has authored or co-authored a number of articles, book chapters and abstracts for medical and surgical publications, and has frequently lectured at medical and surgical meetings and conferences.
Prior to coming to Buffalo and at different periods in the last 10 years, Dr. Talhouk has held the positions of Chief of Trauma at SUNY Stony Brook; Chief of Surgical Critical Care at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City, and Chief of Trauma and Director of the Surgical Critical Care Residency Program at North Shore University Hospital in Long Island.
He is affiliated with Kaleida Health hospitals, and Sisters of Charity and South Buffalo Mercy hospitals.
