Buffalo Medical Group offers a full range of audiological services including
complete hearing assessments, balance or vestibular evaluations, auditory
nerve assessments, and hearing aid evaluations and fittings. The services
are provided under the guidance of three clinical audiologists, two of whom
are doctors of audiology. All of the clinicians have extensive training,
expertise and experience treating audiological problems, and work closely
with BMG otolaryngologists (ear, nose and throat specialists).
Comprehensive hearing assessments include an audiogram and middle ear exams
or impedance audiometry that is used to evaluate the type and degree of a
patient’s hearing loss. Balance or vestibular testing consists of Video-Electronystagmography
(VNG), which is the gold standard for diagnosing patients who have vertigo
related symptoms. Such symptoms often are seen in patients with
labyrinthitis, motion sickness, migraine headaches, or the most common type
of vertigo in mature adults, Benign Paroxysmal Positioning Vertigo (BPPV).
This condition is treated with the canalith repositioning procedure
performed by an audiologist. An Electrocochleargram (ECOG) exam will help
rule out Meniere’s Disease or Endolymphatic Hydrops, which have vertigo
related symptoms.
Buffalo Medical Group audiology services are available at 518 Abbott Road
and 85 High Street in Buffalo, and 295 Essjay Road, Williamsville.

services as hearing aid molds, noise reduction molds, swim molds, musician’s
ear plugs, hunter’s ear plugs, and assertive listening devices (ALDs).
