The Buffalo Medical Group division of Vascular
Surgery is dedicated to the care and treatment
of peripheral vascular diseases, including
atherosclerotic occlusions of blood vessels to
the arms, legs and brain; aortic aneurysms, and
venous disorders.
BMG vascular surgeons are board certified and
hold a Certificate of Special Competence in
Vascular Surgery issued by the American Board
of Surgery. All of the surgeons have a special
interest in endovascular procedures, including
treatment of abdominal
aortic aneurysms and bypass of vascular
occlusions in blood vessels of the lower
extremities. The surgeons also perform carotid endarterectomies for removal of blockages in
the internal carotid arteries, and bypass
procedures in the lower extremities for limb
salvage.
The BMG vascular laboratory was among the
first of its kind in Western New York, and
registered technicians perform diagnostic
testing with state-of-the-art equipment.
Technicians receive continual training to
maintain high levels of competence. BMG's
vascular laboratories in Williamsville and Buffalo recently received a
three-year accreditation by the intersocietal commission for the
accreditation of vascular laboratories.
Vascular laboratory testing does not involve
the use of dyes or injections. All testing is
done with non-invasive ultrasound waves.
Images of blood vessels are obtained for
evaluation by the vascular surgeons to determine
if there are abnormalities. Blood vessels
in the arms, legs, abdomen, neck and head are
examined in vascular lab testing.
The BMG operates vascular labs at its three
main locations in Buffalo, Williamsville and
Orchard Park. Vascular testing is conducted
Monday through Friday at 85 High Street, Buffalo, and at 295 Essjay Road, Williamsville. In
addition, testing is done Monday and Friday at 3345 Southwestern
Boulevard, Orchard Park. Vascular testing is
done by appointment only.
