Dr. Valerie L. Burkhard who specializes in adult and pediatric
urology, joined Buffalo Medical Group, PC, in August 2008, and is
one of only two female urologists in Western New York.
In addition, she is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the
University at Buffalo (UB) School of Medicine and Biomedical
Sciences.
A graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Burkhard earned her
medical degree at UB. She was awarded the Dean's Academic
Achievement Award for Excellence in her second year at UB, and
received the Buffalo Surgical Society Prize in Surgery in her third
and fourth years.
Dr. Burkhard completed a five-year residency in urology at UB and
affilated hospitals, and served as Chief Resident in Urology during
her final year. She also received specialized training in
endoscopy, laparoscopy, microscopy, robotics, and open surgical
techniques.
She is a member of the American Urological Association, American
Medical Association, American Medical Women's Association, Society
of Women in urology, and the Endourological Society.
Dr. Burkhard has authored and co-authored articles on her research
for numerous medical journals and publications.
She is affiliated with all major hospitals in Western New York.
