Dr. Robert E. Kalb has been a member of the Buffalo Medical Group’s Dermatology Department since 1989, and has served as department chair since 1999.
A Rochester, NY, native, Dr. Kalb is a graduate of the University at Buffalo (UB), where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree summa cum laude in biochemistry. He earned his medical degree cum laude at Downstate Health Science Center, Brooklyn, NY. He performed his dermatology residency at the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University in New York City. Before joining the Buffalo Medical Group, Dr. Kalb was a full-time faculty member at the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
Dr. Kalb is a Clinical Professor of Dermatology
at UB where he has extensive teaching responsibilities that include fourth year medical students and internal medicine residents rotating in his Buffalo Medical Group office on a regular basis. He also conducts weekly clinical sessions with dermatology resident physicians in training.
He is recognized as a national expert in the treatment of psoriasis. He has presented numerous lectures at local, national, and international meetings. He is on the medical board of the National Psoriasis Foundation. Additionally, he conducts clinical trials investigating possible new treatments for psoriasis.
Dr. Kalb administers the Buffalo Medical Group Phototherapy Department, which serves as the principal center for psoriasis treatment. It is located at the 295 Essjay Road office. Complete psoriasis therapy including all forms of phototherapy, injection therapy and infusion therapy are offered.
He is Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology, and is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Master’s Dermatology Society, and the Buffalo-Rochester Dermatology Society.
Dr. Kalb is a co-director of Health Volunteers
Overseas group which organizes dermatology opportunities in
Cambodia. He has personally volunteered on three separate
occasions in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, examining patients and teaching
medical students and dermatologists in training. He also
coordinates the first free dermatology clinic in downtown Buffalo at
the Lighthouse Facility in conjunction with University at Buffalo
medical students. He is a volunteer at the Upstate New York
Transplant Services (UNYTS) as a 13-gallon blood donor.
